Parents and educators seek innovative methods to engage children in learning, especially given children's growing interest in technology. A product that combines physical books with cutting-edge AR technology can create a dynamic learning experience that enhances both entertainment and education. This interactive approach fosters deeper engagement, making it a valuable tool for early childhood development.

Introducing an engaging, educational experience for young children: a silhouette book that invites kids to guess the animal hidden in each silhouette. Using a dedicated AR app, the silhouettes act as markers, bringing the animals to life in 3D. Once revealed, children can see the animal, hear its sound, and discover its name along with fun facts, creating a playful, immersive learning adventure. This innovative concept combines reading with interactive technology, making learning about animals a captivating and memorable experience.

The typeface was selected for ease of readings well as its childlike qualities. The color palette was generated using an AI color tool. I used the project description as a prompt. I also adjusted some of the colors for a better contrast and readability. The illustrations used for the app Icon and story buttons were also generated with an online AI tool.

Learnings from challenges

Learnings from challenges

Resourcefulness with Limited Budget : Developing this app with a zero budget taught me to maximize free resources, from Unity 3D and Vuforia to open-source 3D models and sound assets. This approach sharpened my ability to source cost-effective, high-quality content.

Technical Flexibility : Adapting to software constraints, like using older Unity versions and building only for Android, sharpened my problem-solving in game development.

Child-Centric Design and Research : Researching child-friendly design elements gave me insights into user-centered design tailored to specific age groups, ensuring the app was engaging for both young children and adults.

Leveraging AI for Efficiency : Using AI content generation tools for text and illustrations expanded my toolkit, revealing the efficiency of automation in low-budget projects.
